    This model has a separate gauge indicating bottle content as well as a tube indicating outlet flow control in gas per liter. In ideal indoor workshop conditions a rough indication is to set the regulator to 5L/min for TIG welding and 15L/min for MIG welding. These indicators are not set in stone but are rather tips to keep your gas usage to a minimum with maximum results. There are many factors to influence the amount of gas needed so use those measurements to start off with and adjust until optimum weld pool protection is ascertained.

    A stem forged from brass to make an outlet channel for the gas cylinder through a stem that connects to the regulator. The thickness and thread is produced per specification for each individual regulator. The inlet stem is a certain length, depending on the gas used and has a bull nose at one end which fits into the cylinder outlet and is tightened with a bull nose nut of the same thread. The stem also has a metal mesh gauze at the one end to assist in the prevention of any unwanted material from entering the regulator. The other end is has a die cut thread that would correspond to the particular gas it is being used for.

    A 2 piece cutting nozzle made up of brass inner nozzle with splines and a hollow drawn copper outer sheath. It has a different gas mixing criteria from an ANM nozzle due to a lower burning velocity than oxy / acetylene. This nozzle is for use with oxygen / propane and requires two criteria to develop good flame conditions. Turbulence needs to be created between the inner and outer parts of the nozzle to obtain adequate mixing of the two gasses and the volume of mixed gas is more than double that of oxy/acetylene to create the same amount of heat. Cheaper imitations have less splines to saves costs in manufacturing so the saved cost of the actual nozzle is wasted on the extra amount of propane used to create the heat. In this case buy smart – not cheap.
