4043 is a 5% Silicone alloy used to weld heat-treatable base alloys. It is most often used to weld the 6XXX series of alloys. The silicone addition improves puddle fluidity, producing an appealing bead profile. It is less crack sensitive on the 6XXXX series than other alloys.

Common applications are automotive parts, diesel tanks, truck trailers and bicycles. It also suited to Oxygen/Acetylene brazing of thin aluminium sheet and tubing when used with aliminium flux.
