2% thoriated tungsten electrode (AWS EWTh-2, red band) 3.20mm for high-amperage DC TIG welding of mild steel, stainless steel, and heavy structural sections. Thorium oxide maintains a sharp point and long electrode life at sustained high currents on DC electrode negative. Not recommended for AC aluminium welding.
